Rebekka Schlichting is a member of Ioway Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska from the Sac and Fox Reservation in Kansas. She started research on Whiteclay in 2013 while working as a backpack reporter for Vision Maker Media. After winning a national award for her video about Whiteclay, she went on to graduate school at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She graduated with a Master of Arts in professional journalism and previously a bachelor's in journalism from the University of Kansas.
Rebekka is involved with many other projects that fulfill her passion of helping her Native people. In her free time, she rock climbs, bikes, attends and plans powwow, ceremonies and other tribal events.
